For our upcoming anniversary, Adrian and I decided to celebrate it in SoCal. Luckily, Monday ended up being a holiday, so it turned out to be a nice long weekend. 😀
On Friday, I left work around 0130PM and headed straight to Adrian’s house. I literally kept counting down the minutes until I got to leave work. I couldn’t wait to start the weekend!
I got to Adrian’s house early and Adrian surprised me with the anni gift he got for me.
Once Erin arrived and Adrian finally finished packing, we headed for the road. The drive there was pretty entertaining as questions were bounced back and forth. We hit some slight traffic on the way, but managed to get to Anaheim around 1100PM where we met up with Julian.
First order of business was to get myself a pair of Minnie Mouse ears. I had wanted the sequined pair for years and I finally got them! Why did we go so late at night? Because I wanted to be prepared for the next day! 😛 After acquiring the ears, we went to eat at Denny’s. We were all pretty exhausted by then since it was getting late, but we couldn’t get much sleep either since we had to wake up early for the park opening the next day. Dun dun dun….
Adrian and I woke up bright and early and went to meet up with Erin and Julian. The time we got to their hotel was the time they were woken up by our calls. With some last minute scrambled plans, Adrian and I ended up driving Julian to the Disneyland/California Adventures. Erin took the hotel shuttle and met us there. After we parked the car, we ran through Downtown Disney and managed to get to the park around 0910AM. The main reason why we wanted to go so early was so we could get a good chance at getting FastPasses for Radiator Springs Racer. (I guess they run out early on?) Julian was the “runner” and managed to snag the FastPasses for us. After that, we got to relax and walk around. Since Erin and Julian are season pass holders, they just led us around to rides with short wait times and got us more FastPasses for the good rides throughout the day. It was great park hopping with pros! 😀
Walked through Innoventions and I was most attracted to the Iron Man display. I wish the Iron Man game was something you could actually play at home (can you?) because it’s pretty darn cool being able to pretend to be Iron Man! I loved watching this little kid transform. 🙂
Decided to stand in the long line for Toy Story Mania. By the time we were nearly to the front, we noticed everyone else in line behind us had an Etch A Sketch. I was amazed by the sight of the many people playing with an Etch A Sketch instead of their phones. Adrian managed to get his hands on someone’s Etch A Sketch only to have to return it a couple seconds later. Short lived fun! 😛 Other than that, the ride itself was pretty fun. First time riding Toy Story Mania and Adrian and I both enjoyed it. Well worth the wait!
We (Adrian, Cyn, Dee, Erin, Jared, Julian, and I) went to Animation Academy and learned how to draw Olaf! I had always wanted to do one of these drawing sessions after seeing other people’s photos and never knew where to find it. It was a short lesson, but very enjoyable.
Sadly, I didn’t go snapping photos like crazy like I used to whenever I go out. I found myself just enjoying the moments instead. According to my Fitbit Zip, we walked around 11 miles just park hopping between California Adventures and Disneyland. We went back and forth between the parks a lot, but it was well spent with all the rides we got to go on. We didn’t have to wait too long either! Before we went to watch Fantasmic, Adrian wanted to get me a LED flower, so we walked around Disneyland trying to find one. Eventually, we found the rose cart with all the LED flowers! 😀 We lingered around after Fantasmic to eat clam chowder and ended up getting dole whip floats on our way out since the lines were so short. We didn’t leave the parks until around 1100PM, so in total we spent about 14 hours there. WOW! I am itching to go again already!
On Sunday, we woke up semi-early and went hiking with Erin and Julian! We decided to go check out Hermit Falls. Though the trail was rated as easy, it never got boring. The trail isn’t a flat one and the ending was most entertaining. Hermit Falls is known for having falls that people can jump from (into the water of course!) and we got to see some brave souls take the leap.
More people started to arrive soon after. A huge group was taking turns jumping off the small falls. There was a guy who jumped off several times from different points of the falls. It was insane to watch!
Much of the hike going back was going uphill, so it was a slight struggle to get back. We also parked a lot further than we remembered, but thankfully, Julian offered to go grab the car and met us halfway. We ended the hike with $10 all-you-can-eat kbbq at Red Palace. 😛 Julian paid for Adrian and I as a gift for our anniversary, which was a super sweet gesture! 🙂
After our late lunch, Adrian and I went back to his cousin’s house to rest. It was Adrian and I’s six year anniversary and we had dinner reservations at Season 52. We ended up pushing our reservations a little later since we were still pretty full from eating only 1-2 hours before. Chatted with his cousins Amy and Kelly for a bit, then got ready for our date!
The food did not particularly impress us, but the attentive service and delicious desserts certainly did! I also liked how Seasons 52 menu items uses ingredients from the farmer’s market and nothing on the menu is over 475 calories. The menu also rotates often as well!
Dessert was brought to us on a tray like this. Everything was ready to be served and we were told what each and every dessert was. For our anniversary, Adrian and I each got to choose one for free. It was delicious!
We slept in on Monday then met up with Erin and Julian at Downtown Disney. Parking was kind of nuts, so Adrian and I had to kill some time while we waited for Erin and Julian to find a parking spot.
Once Erin and Julian arrived, we ate at Earl of Sandwich. More first times for Adrian and I! Didn’t take photos of the food, but the sandwiches and tomato soup we got were delicious! 😀
After we finished our lunch, we were going to get candy apples but got distracted by this churro stand with unique flavors.
Adrian was being silly and started sniffing the display, only to be told that none of it was real. It was pretty hilarious to watch for us and the bystanders. 🙂
After stopping by the Lego store so Adrian could buy some Legos he wanted, we said farewell to Julian. The three of us (Adrian, Erin, and I) started the drive back home. We hit major traffic that added at least an hour to our travel time, but still made it back just fine. Woot!
It was a long holiday weekend, but the eventful days made the weekend go by way too quickly. Adrian and I’s six years celebration was a success!!
